Our Pub

In the heart of the village, in the heart of the valley.

The Village & The Pub

The tiny village of Hambleden is famed for its picturesque beauty. Often used for filming – from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and 101 Dalmatians to Midsomer Murders, Inspector Morse and Poirot – the village has been the backdrop for many films, televised period dramas and murder mysteries.

The Stag & Huntsman has been a popular fixture of Hambleden life for years. Sika Inns continues that proud tradition, welcoming visitors and locals to enjoy good food and drink in beautiful, tranquil surroundings.

We have two front bars, a large restaurant and a brilliant pub garden.

The pub serves freshly-prepared seasonal menus, supported by our well-stocked bars and cellar. We showcase innovative cooking alongside traditional classics.

Food is served in our large garden during good weather.  Our dining room and bars are open year-round.

Is this a dagger which I see before me? I’d rather see a pint.
— Colin Dexter, Inspector Morse
Sudden and magnificent, the sun’s broad golden disc showed itself over the horizon facing them; and the first rays, shooting across the level water-meadows, took the animals full in the eyes and dazzled them. When they were able to look once more, the Vision had vanished, and the air was full of the carol of birds that hailed the dawn.
— Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows

“A good local pub has much in common with a church, except that a pub is warmer, and there's more conversation.”

— William Blake
